Adopted resolutions and endorsements

Panther Creek Rail Trail
2009 June 17:   DOST issues a resolution (PDF file) recommending to the Durham City Council and County Commissioners that efforts be made to create with the NCDOT a plan for the Panther Creek Rail Trail in order to protect the $2 million in Federal monies earmarked for rail-trail acquisition by the 2005 SafeTEA-LU Bill.

American Tobacco Trail Phase E
2009 February 4:   DOST issues a letter (PDF file) to the Durham Mayor and City Council urging them to consider design modifications for Phase E of the American Tobacco Trail (from Massey Chapel Road to the Chatham County line) to accomodate equestrian usage.

American Tobacco Trail Phase E
2008 December 3:   DOST issues a letter (PDF file) to the Durham City Manager expressing "disappointment at being bypassed in the design process for Phase E of the American Tobacco Trail."

Durham UDO
2008 October 15:   DOST issues a resolution (MS Word file) encouraging the Environmental Enhancements to the UDO Steering Committee (EEUDO) to consider adding representatives from the environmental community to its composition.

Friends of Hill Forest
2008 October 13:   DOST issues a letter (PDF file) urging the Durham County Commissioners and County Staff to initiate dialogue with NC State University in support of FOHF's efforts to keep Hill Forest accessible for non-motorized recreational use.

NC Central University Master Plan
2008 March 19:   DOST issues comments (MS Word file) on the NCCU Master Plan.

Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association
2008 March 19:   DOST supports (MS Word file) the ECWA resolution for funding trail design and upgrades to the West Ellerbe Creek Trail and to the Pearsontown Trail.

Friends of Hill Forest
2008 February 20:   DOST supports FOHF in their efforts to negotiate with NC State University over access to and use of Hill Forest.

Durham County impact fees
2008 February 20:   DOST supports an increase in impact fee assessment in Durham County with a stable and perpetual process of review of those proposed fees.

2008 January 17:   DOST issues comments (MS Word file) on the US Army Corps future plans for Jordan Lake.

Land for Tomorrow
2006 May 17:   DOST endorses the Land for Tomorrow recommendations, with an amendment that allocation of funding not take from other conservation funding programs to meet the funding goal (PDF file).

Durham Urban Open Space Plan
2006 February 16:   DOST issues a resolution (PDF file) encouraging Durham City Council to develop an Urban Open Space Plan.

Little River Corridor Open Space Plan
:   DOST endorses the Little River Open Space Plan (PDF file)

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission
2000:   DOST issues a resolution to allow its Bicycle Committee to be spun off and regrouped as the Durham Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (Link).


Natural Resource Protection Standards
1999:   DOST endorses the Natural Resource Protection Standards (Link), aimed at limiting development within the floodway and floodplain.


Community Forum
1997:   DOST organizes and funds a community forum entitled "Common Ground for the Common Good".

1996:   DOST endorses the 1996 Durham Bond Referendum.


North Carolina Greenways Conference
1991:   DUTAG hosts the NC Greenways Conference.


1990 Bond Referendum
1990:   DUTAG endorses the 1990 Durham Bond Referendum.
